Samsung LN52A650

A Great LCD HDTV

Since the advent of flat-panel TVs and High-Definition technology, most of us now have replaced or are replacing our old TV sets with spanking new models which come with a host of exciting features. Here I give a brief review of one of Samsung's new models of LCD HDTVs.

The Samsung LN52A650 LCD HDTV is not only a good-looker in the living room, it also boasts extensive features which make TV viewing a sheer pleasure.

Whether one watches high -definition or standard definition programs, or even something on Blu-Ray, the experience is something else. The special red colour of the set makes the TV look absolutely stunning. Any proud homeowner would not find it difficult to complement it with other furniture, although it is likely to be the centre of attraction.

The screen is slightly glossy but this is a common feature of most plasma and LCD sets. Many people are concerned about screen reflection especially when watching programs during the day. I found that this was minimal with this HDTV set. My family thinks this is the best TV set we've ever had.

Some of the new features are supposed to be significant improvements from older models. Thus the Samsung LN52A650 features 4 HDMI 1.3 ports which is up from 3 on 2007 models. The 50,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio is also up from 25,000:1 from previous models. There is also a special InfoLink feature which allowed me to get free RSS feeds of news, weather and sports right to the HDTV with a built-in Ethernet port. Those who love gaming would love this TV as well. The Sports and Game modes boost on-screen performance and interaction with the latest gaming systems.

This very modern TV is also equipped with a side-mounted USB 2.0 port which can connect USB devices directly to the set to view JPEG photos or MPEG movies or easily listen to an MP3 player through the TV's audio system or a home theater system.

In terms of some of the technical aspects which I truly do not understand, there is something called Automotion Plus 120Hz image interpolation technology which provides smooth motion of action scenes. The 178-degree viewing angle is another plus for comfortable and clear viewing in the living room.

If you're looking to get a new TV set, check this out and I'm sure you will not be disappointed!

Success Thinking and Actions

I've been away on vacation this summer with the kids. Spent a wonderful time at Walt Disney World Orlando as well as other Theme Parks. Now that I'm back, I started to think about what people do to make a success of their lives.

I've done quite a bit of reading in my time and it seems that the vital ingredient to success is having the right mind set. This sets the platform for appropriate thinking and actions. There are many paths to success so there is no one right way for everyone. The important first step is to start thinking the right thoughts. This will lead to the right behavior and actions. As part of my unofficial research into this, I came across this website www.thesuccessmind.com which sets out different types of thinking leading to success. There are also useful links to interesting stories as well as publications related to achieving success. You may want to check it out.

Why "mygeminithoughts"?

This is only my second post as I've been busy with the kids and daily routine.

I thought it best to explain my choice of the the title of my blog as "my gemini thoughts".

I am obviously a Gemini, and those born under this star typically love variety in everything and so I shall be exploring and commenting on my gemini thoughts through subsequent posts. This allows me to write about anything I think is topical.

Blogs are better than traditional diaries and I just love the fact that I can communicate potentially with anyone in the world. What a great way to interact in a community!

Gemini people tend to multitask and think of a dozen or more things at once. This can be both a strength and a weakness. A strength because it allows more things to get done, but a weakness if there is a lack of focus.

If there are other Gemini readers out there, please do drop by and post your gemini thoughts.

We can see if there are any commonalities. More likely we can celebrate our diversity.

Till the next time, my current thoughts are presently focused on my son's school exams.

He's not a Gemini but a Leo.

Yes, I know........ he frequently ventilates his own Leo thoughts in a kingly fashion.
